WHY CHOOSE EYE LEVEL

Why Families Across Loudoun County Choose Eye Level

Our proven mastery-based approach builds foundational skills, critical thinking, and independent study habits that last a lifetime.

01

Tailored to Local Academic Standards

Our instruction adapts to the unique academic expectations of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) learning pathways and local private academies like Loudoun Country Day School and Belmont Station programs. Your child learns core concepts that directly improve classroom performance, grades, and test readiness.

02

Diagnostic Precision

Placing a student in a generic grade-level workbook ignores why they are struggling. Every child starts with an academic assessment to understand:

  • Current skill level
  • Strengths
  • Areas for improvement
  • Learning pace

We test first, identify the learning gaps, and build instruction around your child's needs.

03

Step-by-Step Mastery

We teach concepts step-by-step so children learn to evaluate problems on their own fostering critical thinking and self-directed learning.

GRADE LEVEL SUPPORT

Support Across Every Grade Level

Early Learners (Preschool/Pre-K)
Preschool & Pre-K

Early Learners (Preschool/Pre-K)

Entering kindergarten requires a strong foundation in early math, literacy, self-regulation, and social skills. For Virginia public school students, these readiness standards are measured through Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP) benchmarks, while local independent schools evaluate these same core competencies using their own internal entry assessments and developmental milestones. Across all schools, children are expected to recognize letters and sounds, count objects accurately, identify patterns, follow multi-step directions, and stay focused on classroom tasks.

When these foundational skills are underdeveloped, a child may struggle to transition smoothly into a structured school environment.

Our early literacy and math program uses short, engaging, hands-on activities to build phonemic awareness, early number sense, spatial reasoning, fine motor control, and sustained attention. Children get practice listening, thinking, and finishing tasks so they enter kindergarten better prepared for the classroom.

Early Elementary (Grades K–2)
Grades K–2

Early Elementary (Grades K–2)

Grades K through second grade establish basic reading mechanics and addition or subtraction skills. Students are expected to connect letters with sounds, decode unfamiliar words, read with enough fluency to understand a passage, and recall basic addition and subtraction facts accurately. In these grades, small foundational gaps compound quickly as school workloads expand.

Our early elementary program uses systematic phonics, guided reading, structured math practice, and written exercises to strengthen decoding, fluency, comprehension, addition and subtraction recall, and handwriting habits. Students learn to complete daily schoolwork with greater accuracy, less hesitation, and growing independence.

Upper Elementary (Grades 3–5)
Grades 3–5

Upper Elementary (Grades 3–5)

Grade 3 is the hardest academic transition in elementary school. LCPS shifts instruction from teaching children how to read to expecting them to read to learn across every subject. Also, mandatory Virginia SOL standardized testing begins, and math shifts from simple calculations to fractions, long division, and multi-step word problems. Shaky fundamentals lead directly to low SOL scores.

We help students rebuild underlying math gaps, teach structured passage breakdown strategies, and develop the stamina needed to approach 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade SOL exams with total confidence.

Middle School (Grades 6–8)
Grades 6–8

Middle School (Grades 6–8)

Middle school introduces departmentalized classes, faster pacing, and increasingly abstract concepts. Students must transition from basic arithmetic to pre-algebra and algebra, analyze complex literary and informational texts, and manage multi-subject workloads. For LCPS students, rigorous Grade 6–8 Reading and Math SOL exams demand strong critical thinking and problem-solving stamina, while local independent schools expect high-level written analysis and independent study habits. Unaddressed gaps at this stage quickly derail high school placement and advanced coursework track placement.

We help middle schoolers master core algebraic thinking, non-fiction reading comprehension, and structured essay writing while instilling essential soft skills so they handle coursework effectively, approach Virginia SOL assessments with greater confidence, and transition into high-school-level learning.

Early High School (Grades 9–10)
Grades 9–10

Early High School (Grades 9–10)

The transition to high school brings higher stakes, rigorous GPA tracking, and foundational coursework in Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, and World History. Students face comprehensive End-of-Course (EOC) SOL tests in public schools or demanding cumulative finals and honors/AP track prerequisites in independent schools. Success requires strong analytical writing, advanced mathematical reasoning, and the ability to synthesize large volumes of information independently.

Our targeted instruction reinforces complex math and science concepts, refines analytical writing and research skills, and prepares students for high-stakes school assessments and standardized testing, laying a solid foundation for upper-level coursework and future college prep.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the enrollment process work?

We begin with a free consultation to understand your child's needs and goals. Next, we schedule a math and English assessment to determine their current level. Using the results, we create a personalized plan, review it with you, and set a start date and schedule.

Can Eye Level help with Virginia SOL preparation?

Yes. We strengthen the underlying math, reading, writing and reasoning skills used on SOL assessments. The program focuses on understanding, accurate work and steady practice.

How are diagnostic tests conducted?

Diagnostic tests are done online or in-person, depending on your preference. The test measures both foundational skills and higher-level thinking to pinpoint exactly where your child is in their learning journey. Results are reviewed with parents so we can identify strengths, areas for growth, and set clear objectives.

How much do your programs cost?

Plans start at $185/month (for 30 min/week online or 1 hr/week in-center) or $370/month (for 1 hr/week online or 2 hrs/week in-center). A $75 registration fee applies. 6-month prepay discounts are also available ($170/month and $330/month respectively).

How quickly will I see results?

Progress looks different for every child, we don't rely on a one-size-fits-all schedule. Instead, we measure growth from a precise diagnostic baseline, giving you clear visibility into improvements in their confidence, grades, and class participation.

Does Eye Level align with the LCPS curriculum and Virginia SOL testing?

Yes. While we follow our own step-by-step, mastery-based curriculum, our program builds the core math, reading, and writing skills students need to excel in their specific classroom environments. For public school students, this instruction supports key grade-level benchmarks and Virginia SOL objectives. For private school students, we adapt our approach to match the rigorous expectations and coursework of their specific schools. Depending on the school, this may include preparation for MAP, ERB or a school's own internal testing benchmark. This approach helps students strengthen the skills needed for daily assignments, classroom performance and school-level assessments.

Where is the Ashburn North center located?

Our center is conveniently located in Ashburn North, easily accessible for families across Ashburn, Broadlands, Belmont Country Club, and surrounding Loudoun County neighborhoods.

What ages do you work with?

We serve students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, tailoring programs to their skill level — not just their grade. Whether your child needs to catch up or accelerate, we meet them where they are.

What makes Eye Level different from other tutoring programs?

Eye Level focuses on personalized understanding, confidence-building, and critical thinking rather than repetitive memorization.
